Compound Christmas tree toy "Round dance around the Christmas tree".
Created by the motif of the painting Henri Matisse "Dance", which is kept in the Hermitage museum.
According to one version, "Dance" is written under the impression of «Russian Seasons» by Sergei Dyagilev. Although Diaghilev considered the style of Marius Petipa (to which the theme of the 2018 Hermitage tree is dedicated) conservative, the fact remains that it was Petipa who brought an entire constellation of great performers to the ballet stage.

The toy consists of five figurines, which are joined together.
In addition to the classic version, the figures can be hung in a line in the form of a garland or each separately.
The fastening system allows you to alternate characters in any order.
Each figurine is equipped with a hanging loop in the color of spruce needles.
The toy is made of cardboard, foil, cotton wool, and natural glue.
It is coated with harmless paint containing luminophore, which allows it to accumulate light and glow not only in ultraviolet but also in total darkness.
The combination of ancient technology (late XIX - early XX century) and innovative materials is a reference to the theme of classics and modernity, which never loses its relevance in art, especially in ballet.
